Prof. Patrick Walliser Chamber Music


Patrick Walliser spent his early childhood in Scotland, Northern Ireland and southern England, his schooling with piano lessons and basic musical subjects in Baden-Württemberg. In 1974 he received a diploma from the School of Eurythmic Art and Art Reisinger Berlin. From 1974 to 1978 he studied conducting at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin under Hans-Martin Rabenstein.
Subsequently, he was until 1980 Solo-Repetitor on the stages Kiel and had his first conducting successes with Hansel and Gretel. At the Theater Ulm he was from 1980 to 1983 study director, bandmaster and assistant to the General Music Director. During this time he conducted twelve repertoire pieces of music theater. He also received instruction in song accompaniment with Irwin Gage and recitative in Johann Sonnleitner.

From 1983 to 1992 Walliser was a solo-reviser at the Deutsche Oper Berlin with a focus on Wagner, Strauss and Modern (world premieres). He also worked as an assistant to Gary Bertini in Frankfurt am Main in 1987/1988 and as an assistant to Giuseppe Sinopoli from 1990 to 1994 in Berlin, Rome, Taormina and Milan. Since 1992 he is professor for score and piano score play at the UdK Berlin. He organized from 1993 to 2003 song recitals and chanson programs and published CDs.
Walliser also worked from 2001 to 2006 as a pianist and coach at the Komische Oper Berlin. From 2003 to 2006 he was co-conductor of Johannes Kalitzke at the Styrian Autumn / Opera Bastille, at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and at the Theater an der Wien (world premieres by Bernhard Lang and Hans Zender). Since 2000 he appears as a pianist in the major Berlin orchestras and the DOB and as a harpsichordist (basso continuo) in the Berlin Chamber Orchestra. He also works with different singers.
