Marianne Böttcher

Prof. Marianne Bröttcher Violin


Marianne Boettcher studied in Berlin with professors Willy Kirch and Michel Schwalbé, and supplemented her education in Geneva with Professor Henryk Szering. Today, she serves as an honorary professor and leads a violin class at the University of the Arts Berlin.

She has received numerous awards and has been invited to make CD, radio, and television recordings. Extensive concert tours have taken her repeatedly to the USA, Russia, Japan, and almost all European countries. She is known as an interpreter of new music, and many works by well-known composers have been written for her and premiered by her. She has been repeatedly invited to give masterclasses (including in Vienna, Tallinn, Rheinsberg, and Prague). In 2003, she received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
