Andrej Žust French horn


Andrej Žust received his first horn lessons from Janez Polanc in his hometown of Logatec. Later, he studied with Boštjan Lipovšek at the Academy of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana. He received artistic inspiration from renowned musicians such as Hermann Baumann, Frøydis Ree Wekre, Viktor Malisch, and Radovan Vlatkovič. During his education, he won numerous national and international competitions as a soloist and chamber musician. In May 2004, he was appointed as solo hornist in the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Ljubljana. Additionally, Andrej Žust was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra. As an active chamber musician, he is a member of the Ariart Wind Quintet, the Soloists of the Chamber Orchestra of Ljubljana, and the Trio Triumvirat. From February 2009 to January 2011, he was a scholarship holder of the Orchester-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker and has been a member of the horn section of the orchestra since the beginning of the 2011/2012 season.
