Mures/ Transylvania) with Sarolta Trozner, the niece of composer Franz Erkel. He completed his studies at the conservatories in Cluj (Klausenburg) and Bucharest with Georg Halmos, a student of Emil von Sauer in Vienna, and Florica Musicescu, the teacher of Dinu Lipatti. After receiving his concert diploma from the Bucharest conservatory and winning an award at the International Piano Competition "A.Casagrande" in Italy, he became an assistant professor at the Bucharest conservatory in 1971. Concerts and recordings supplemented his teaching activities. Since 1977, he has been living and teaching in Germany. Enachescu attended master classes with Eliza Hansen, Elgin Roth, Christoph Eschenbach, and Justus Frantz. He recorded solo and chamber music works for SFB and WDR. From 1983 to 1985, Enachescu taught at the music school in Mannheim. In 1985, he joined the faculty of the University of the Arts Berlin as a lecturer. His solo, chamber music, and lieder recitals complement the horn trio with violinist Marianne Boettcher (UdK Berlin) and hornist of the Berlin Philharmonic Stefan Jezserski.
As a piano duo, Sorin Enachescu performs with his pianist colleagues Elena Lapitskaja, Pascal Devoyon, or Fabio Bidini. As a lecturer, he teaches master classes in Berlin, at the Royal College of Music London, the Bucharest Music University, and Gangneung University in Korea. He serves as a judge at international competitions in Italy.
